A LOCAL nurse has been recognised nationally for her efforts keeping local community hospitals and clinics safe from Covid-19.

Carole Clive, Nurse Consultant for Infection Prevention and Control, at Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, has been awarded a Star Award from the Cavell Nurses’ Trust.

It recognises her dedication and leadership in supporting staff at the Trust to maintain a safe environment and to minimise risk of infections within wards, in clinics and for nursing teams who support patients in their homes.

In addition she has worked to ensure staff were trained to apply infection prevention guidance, and alongside colleagues she led on the distribution of PPE kit and testing equipment.

“There have been so many examples over the last 15 months of Carole truly going to extraordinary lengths to support staff on the front line in the fight against Covid-19,” said Michelle Greatorex, Director of Nursing at the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust.

“Maintaining a safe environment is the responsibility of everyone but Carole’s guidance and expertise has been invaluable, she has been a real inspiration.”
