ACCESSIBILITY was high on the list of priorities when designs were drawn up for the building work at Ludlow Assembly Rooms.
Assembly Rooms chief executive Helen Hughes has set out the arrangements in a post.
“The front door, facing Market Square, which will be the main entrance, has a flat entrance and has push button glass doors,” she said.
“From there, a wheelchair user can proceed down the central corridor and access the new lift, which stops at every floor, the cafe, the Box Office and the Visitor Information Centre.
“The lift is fully accessible and does not have a mirror, thus also making it dementia friendly.
“There are wheelchair spaces in the new auditorium and new disabled toilets.”
It is hoped that the new Government road map will mean that after July 19 the Assembly Rooms will be fully open to use in the same way as before the coronavirus pandemic.
It will be a chance to use the new facilities including the main auditorium with its new seating.
