PEOPLE living in Ludlow are able to check river levels in real time online.

This is intended to reduce the risk of residents being caught out by rapidly rising water levels.

The Environment Agency monitor river flooding and this a includes the facility to sign up for flood alerts and warnings that come direct to a mobile phone.

In February last year homes in the town were flooded in the worst flooding for a decade.

The service enables people to move objects of value upstairs and make sure that they can evacuate the area that is at risk.

Ludlow missed out on an allocation from the Government for flood defence schemes that was announced last year, whilst Tenbury did better and has a £6 million scheme under preparation with work due to start early in 2022.
