VOTERS in Tenbury will go to the polling stations today to elect a new County councillor and the West Mercia police and crime commissioner.

But it will be an election like no other.

People that have not applied for a postal vote and are not getting someone else to vote by proxy, may well have to wait outside their polling station in a socially distanced queue because fewer voters will be allowed inside.

Everyone who wants to vote will need to wear a face covering unless they have an exemption and to use hand sanitiser. In a new first, people are also being asked to take their own pen or pencils to mark the ballot paper.

Some polling stations will also operate a one way system with, where possible, a different door for going in and coming out. People are urged to check their polling card rather than just turn up at the usual polling station as some have been changed.
