A new active travel manager has been appointed to lead Shropshire Council’s work to enable and encourage people to walk and cycle for everyday short journeys.

Rose Dovey is currently strategy and programme manager for Hertfordshire County Council and is experienced in the development of local cycling and walking infrastructure plans and associated active travel measures for Transport for London and several other councils.

She will take up her new role in Shropshire in the middle of next month.

In her new role Ms Dovey will co-ordinate the development and delivery of active travel projects with partners, including cycling and walking infrastructure projects and cycle parking.

She will also develop the council’s local cycling and walking infrastructure plan and prepare an active travel strategy for the council, working across a number of key service areas. Ms Dovey has developed transportation and urban growth strategies.
