Possession order sought as travellers camp in Ludlow town centre car park

Two caravans are park in a corner of the Market Street car park.

Andy Boddington, Shropshire councillor for Ludlow North that includes the town centre, said that a possession order is being sought.

“Shropshire Council has applied to the courts for possession but has yet to get a date for the order coming into force,” Mr Boddington said.

“Alternative accommodation has been offered to them, I don't know the details, but that was declined.”

The councillor said that he was aware of a small number of complaints but that the town centre is very quiet and the travellers did not appear to be causing a nuisance.

He said that there is a need for a transition site for travellers as they pass through the area.
