THERE is a flood alert in place for Ludlow and parts of south Shropshire.
River levels are forecast to rise at the Leintwardine river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall.
Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible from this morning.
It is expected that there will be flooding of low lying land and roads adjacent to the River Teme, River Onny and River Corve and their tributaries.
Places that could see flooding include Ludlow, Bishops Castle, Church Stretton and Knighton.
The agency says it is monitoring the situation and checking flood defences.. People are being advised to avoid using low lying footpaths near rivers and streams and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.
