FLOOD alerts have been issued for the Tenbury and Ludlow areas.

At present there is not an immediate risk to homes and businesses but the level of rivers and streams are rising because of rainfall and melting snow.

River levels have risen at the Newnham Bridge river gauge.

This is causing flooding of roads and farmland.

The Environment Agency expects flooding to affect low lying land and roads adjacent to the Ledyche Brook and River Rea.

There is concern about areas including Cleobury Mortimer, Neen Sollars and Caynham.

Further rainfall is forecast over the next few days and river levels in the area are expected to remain high until Saturday.

River levels are also rising at the Leintwardine, Onibury and Ludlow river gauges as a result of heavy rainfall.

Flooding of roads and farmland is possible.

Rivers experts also expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads adjacent to the River Teme, River Onny and River Corve and their tributaries.

Locations at risk include Ludlow, Bishops Castle Church Stretton and Knighton and Ludlow.

It is expected that the level of rivers and streams in this area will continue to rise until Friday afternoon.
