THERE was some flooding but Tenbury escaped a repeat of the devastation of last February.

Huge anxiety in the town began to ease as river levels dropped overnight.

But although flooding from rivers and streams was limited there was water coming up through drains and some cellars were flooded and have to be pumped out.

Bridget Thomas, who represents Tenbury on Malvern Hills District Council, said that it looked as if the town had largely escaped this time.

“It seems that this has been a near miss but it was worrying,! said Ms Thomas.

“Once again there was the tremendous spirit that we have seen in Tenbury with people so keen to help each other.”

The Environment Agency has started a consultation and survey work ahead of a flood defence scheme with construction expected to begin in the spring of 2022.
