A TRIBUTE has been paid by the Friends of Ludlow Hospital to one of their great supporters who died recently.

Peter Corfield, chairman of the Hospital League of Friends said that Howard Cheese, who died aged 70, would be much remembered and missed.

"On a final, and sad note, we record the passing in Ludlow Hospital of Howard Cheese, a staunch supporter and regular feature at our quarterly meetings," said Mr Corfield in the latest newsletter from the League of Friends.

"A key player in the Ludlow Museum, his encyclopaedic knowledge of local history will be a loss to Ludlow."

Mr Cheese died in Ludlow Hospital after being ill with a brain tumour and people have been encouraged to make donations to the charity that is looking for a cure and supports people who have the disease.

As well as being a great supporter of the hospital, Mr Cheese was also known for his interest in cars and in particular the VW Beatle.

He was active in other local groups.
