THE county’s coronavirus infection rates have continued to rise according to the latest figures although they remain well below those in other parts of Worcestershire

Worcester’s rate increased to 171.9 per 100,000 people in the week up to October 31 with 174 positive cases recorded compared to 151.2 per 100,000 people in the previous week.

Malvern’s infection rate was 106.7 per 100,000 people with 84 cases recorded in the seven days compared to 94 cases per 100,000 people and 74 cases a week earlier.

The infection rate also continued to increase in every other part of the county with Bromsgrove remaining the highest.

The infection rate increased in Bromsgrove to 219.3 in the week compared to 172.2 a week earlier – making it the highest rate in Worcestershire.

A total of 219 cases were recorded in Bromsgrove during the week compared to 172 in the previous week.

The infection rate in Redditch, which remains high, was 200.6 per 100,000 people in the week up to October 31 with 171 cases recorded.

Wyre Forest’s infection rate increased to 198.4 per 100,000 people in the week up to October 31 compared to 116.5 a week earlier. The number of cases recorded was 201 compared to 118 a week earlier.

The infection rate in Wychavon was 129.8 with 168 cases compared to 120.5 per 100,000 people a week earlier when 156 cases were recorded.

The infection rate for Worcestershire was 170.7 per 100,000 people, according to the latest figures, compared to 137 per 100,000 people in the previous week.

A total of 1,017 positive cases were recorded during the week compared to 816 cases in the previous week.

The number of cases recorded in Worcestershire during the whole pandemic is 7,053 – of which 1,183 have been recorded in Worcester.
