The number of recorded coronavirus cases in Herefordshire has risen by 20 over the last 24 hours, official figures show.

Public Health England figures show that 1,252 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am on Wednesday (October 21) in Herefordshire, up from 1,232 the same time on Tuesday.

It means since Monday, 69 new cases have been reported in Herefordshire.

The overall rate of infection in Herefordshire now stands at 649 cases per 100,000 people since the pandemic began, far lower than the England average of 1,190.

The graph below shows the number of cases in Herefordshire by date of test, and not the day when the cases were published by PHE. There can be a few days while waiting for tests results to be returned from laboratories.

Across the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 26,687 over the period to 789,229.

Herefordshire's cases were among the 68,024 recorded across the West Midlands, a figure which rose by 2,427 over the period.

Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.

No more patients have died at the Wye Valley NHS Trust within 14 days of a positive coronavirus test, NHS England has confirmed. As of 4pm on Tuesday, 59 people had died at hospital in Herefordshire with coronavirus.

However, Lugg ward at Hereford County Hospital remains closed to admissions and visitors after a number of positive coronavirus cases.

The building site at the hospital has also been closed today after nine workers tested positive.
