THIS year Ludlow Rotary Club’s main fundraiser Dog Fun Day had to be cancelled.
This usually raises tens of thousands and all the proceeds are distributed between local and national charities.
But one tradition that will be continuing is the Tree of Light.
Since they can no longer meet for meals Ludlow Rotarians have been invited to contribute to a hardship fund.
As a result it has already made grants totalling £1,750 to a number of local organisations working hard to support others in the community, chiefly Pulling Together and Hands Together Ludlow.
This has included £400 to the Shropshire Domestic Abuse Service. Rotarians are continuing to build the fund with the aim of supporting organisations bringing Christmas to the housebound and elderly in this difficult year.
For the past 12 years the Club, with the Advertiser’s support, has been raising funds with the Tree of Light, which in return for a donation of at least £5 supports local charities. This year the Rotary Club will again support Hands Together Ludlow.
