A HOMEOWNER has been left in shock after a car crashed through his garden causing significant damage to his boundary wall.

Glyn Cording, who lives on the A38 at Severn Stoke, was shocked after hearing a three-car crash which happened outside his house and resulted in a car crashing through his garden.

Mr Cording, aged 69, said: “I was fitting some draught excluder to the front door of our house.

"I was about to go through the front door to get a smaller hammer when I heard a loud bang.

“I turned around to see a car come crashing through the garden wall but stopped short of the actual house.

“I’m ok now but I was shocked when it happened.

"I went up to the driver to see if he was ok. He was but he was on the phone to the emergency services.”

The car was embedded in the wall, until a breakdown lorry arrived and removed the car at 11.45pm.

Mr Cording said there is still damaged car parts left on the footpath on the other side of the road.

The crash happened while the M5 was closed after a tanker crashed and traffic was diverted via the A38.

It also caused the A38 to be closed for around one hour in both directions.

Two Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews – one each from Worcester and Upton – were called to a crash on the A38 at Severn Stoke at 3.44pm on September 23.

“The road was closed for a period of time, one carriage was reopened at 4.20pm and the road fully reopened at 5pm.”
