A DEESIDE man is taking on the Three Peaks challenge in memory of his two-year-old daughter who lost a battle with a rare form of cancer.

This Saturday (September 12), Stewart Davies, from Garden City, will be climbing Wales, England and Scotland's biggest mountains in 24 hours to raise money for a foundation set up in his daughter's memory.

In 2013, Amelia-Mae Davies died following a battle with neuroblastoma – a rare form of childhood cancer.

In her memory, dad Stewart and mum Angie Davies set up the Amelia-Mae Foundation which supports families whose children are battling neuroblastoma.

To date, the foundation has sent children to Disney World, the Canary Islands, provided families with full house makeovers, children's parties, events tickets, TVs and game consoles - to name just a few.

Stewart, 49, said: "I will be attempting the three peaks on the September 12 to raise awareness of and much needed funds for the Amelia-Mae Foundation.

"Tuesday (September 8) would have been Amelia's 10th birthday and I can't think of a better way to honour her memory than to do this challenge, I know she would be so happy knowing I was making others smile in her memory."

Part of a 15-strong team, Stewart will start at the foot of Ben Nevis in Scotland at 5am, before moving on to Scafell Pike in Cumbria and then finally tackling Mount Snowdon - a combined total of 3,408 meters of climbing.

Hanson Cement, which Stewart works for, is price matching up to £500 of what he raises for the Amelia-Mae Foundation, and is hoped the money raised from the challenge will also help fund a holiday home by the sea for families affected by neuroblastoma.

Stewart added: "This will help raise much needed funds for the Amelia-Mae Foundation charity to purchase a house by the sea for families of children affected by neuroblastoma to have much needed rest bite after months of being in a hospital ward. A lot of time spent in isolation a break away from it all is exactly what they need.

"If you could support me I would be very grateful."
