POLICE rushed to a Hampshire beauty spot after a thief broke into a car and stole a handbag.
A thief made off with a handbag from a black Vauxhall Corsa parked on Brunel Road, Totton, and ran towards Testwood Lakes.
The male suspect then dropped the bag while he was running.
The caller reporting the incident to police said the man had something in his hand, but was unsure what it was.
One witness said: "A thief snatched a bag and was chased into the lakes by someone from the industrial unit [South Hampshire Industrial Park]."
Officers were called to the incident at 2.33pm on Thursday (August 6).
A spokesperson for Hampshire Police said: "We were called at 2.33pm yesterday, 6 August, to reports of a theft from motor vehicle on Brunel Road, Totton."
