TWO middle-aged brothers racing each other to watch the sunset and a taxi driver rushing to get in the queue at the rank were among speeding drivers stopped on Poole's Seldown Bridge.

Officers from the Dorset Police No Excuse team also stopped two young motorcyclists racing and an Audi driver whose legs started to shake when he was breathalysed.

Bournemouth Echo:

They recorded a total of eight drivers speeding in the 30mph limit.

Officers said the Audi driver, travelling at 55 mph, was relieved to discover he was below the legal drink drive limit despite drinking earlier in the day.

Mercedes driver caught at 72mph on Seldown Bridge

A young driver in a Vauxhall Corsa may have to retake his test after driving at 52mph on the way home from his girlfriend's house and the two motorbikes were travelling at 42mph.

The middle-aged brothers, travelling at 50mph, told officers they always report boy racers for speeding and the taxi driver, speeding at 41mph, told officers: "Sorry, I've only taken £25 tonight and wanted to get in the queue quickly."

The driver of a Mitsubishi ASX recorded at 45mph said he was late for work.
