A MOTHER who spent 100 days crafting scenes in her front garden using teddy bears has said she has been "completely overwhelmed" by the response as she called time on her cute project.

Each morning from the early days of lockdown in April, Caroline Price turned the front garden of her Ramsbottom home into a scene featuring a large teddy called Bear and his rabbit pal, Thumper.

The popular scenes would see dozens of people choosing to walk past the Nuttall Lane house to see what the teddies were up to each day.

The 'Nuttall Bears' Facebook page has also now attracted more than 1,200 likes, with hundreds of users praising Caroline's efforts.

Caroline said: "I've been completely overwhelmed by the reaction and now I've looked back and realised how huge the project was.

"I was setting my alarm at half past six each morning and going in to my garden in my dressing gown to set them up.

"It was a real sense of community. There were people around that I had never seen before and it was great that people were enjoying it."

During their 100 days of fun, the animals enjoyed baking, reading stories, playing cricket and football, ironing and other activities.

Caroline recruited sons Daniel, aged seven and Thomas, three, to help with the scenes, with the pair helping out with various parts.

Caroline said that one of her favourite scenes was a weekend 'festival', which saw the appearances of 'Ted Sheeran' and 'Teddy Mercury.'

The particular scene saw music played from outside her home, to add to the fun atmosphere.

While the bears may have gone for now as lockdown eases and more people are getting back to life as normal, Caroline said that she anticipates the 'Nuttall Bears' making comeback appearances in the coming months.

Caroline added: "I never started with 100 ideas but it got to the point where I had so many that I was writing them down and had quite a few ideas at one time.

"I think they might potentially come back at Christmas for a Nativity scene, or in September for the back to school period.

"I'm sure they will be visiting local shops over the next few weeks too."
