MARY Gill, wife of the Mayor of Ludlow Tim Gill, has died.

Mrs Gill, died at the family home in Ludlow just a few days after coming out of hospital.

Because of the need to spend considerable periods of time in hospital, both in Birmingham and Hereford in recent times under Covid-19 restrictions Mr Gill had not been able to see his wife very much.

Mrs Gill, who had cancer, had been in Hereford Hospital after she and her husband both tested positive for Covid-19.

She was able to come home and spend her final few days with her husband and two daughters, one of whom lives in Australia.

She became ill at the end of 2018 and had an operation to remove a brain tumour but her cancer spread.

During the lockdown Mr and Mrs Gill had to make regular journeys to Birmingham for her to receive treatment.

“Over the years, Mary worked with town council staff and brought good sense, and good fun to many town council events,” said Gina Wilding, Ludlow’s town clerk.

“She was instrumental in organising his most successful fund raising events - and accompanied him to many civic events. She will be greatly missed by us all.”
