A fundraising page has been set up to try and help a Llandrindod Wells music venue survive the coronavirus crisis.

The future of the Pavilion hangs in the balance as it is not eligible for support from Powys County Council under the retail, hospitality and leisure grant scheme, due to its organisational structure – a not-for-profit community interest company.

This has led to a crowd funding page being set up to try and see the venue through the crisis.

A spokesman said: “Pavilion Mid Wales is part of a national initiative launched by Music Venue Trust to prevent the closure of hundreds of independent music venues.

“Our venue faces closure because we have been forced to shutdown and cancel/postpone all bookings for the next few months.

“This has a major impact on our ability to survive through these unprecedented times.

“In the meantime we still have overheads and other costs we are required to pay out, whilst we have no income whatsoever.

“Your donations will be used to help us to carry on the dream and save Pavilion Mid Wales for generations to come.

“It’s all about survival and we need your help.”

He added: “If we hit our target, and we can prevent the closure of our venue, everything above the amount we need will be donated to the Music Venue Trust GMV Crisis Fund to protect other venues just like ours, right across the country.”

A £10,000 target has been set for fundraising.
