AS part of the recent VE Day celebrations, the Welshpool 1940s Weekend group has presented to the town a bench to mark the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.
The bench has been sited in the Memorial Garden in Howell Drive, and is along side the bench the committee purchased to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of the first World War.
1940s weekend organiser Alan Crowe said: “The committee wish to thank everyone who supported their fund raising towards buying the benches and also the Tesco Bags of Help scheme.”
