THE number of deaths in Worcestershire hospitals has risen by five according to the latest figures.
Five new deaths have been announced by NHS England.
The public body has announced four of the deaths happened at Worcestershire Acute Hospital Trust hospitals in the 24 hours up to 5pm April 20.
One more death was reported by Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust during the same period.
It means the total is up to 165 in the county, from the 160 reported yesterday.
The latest figures relate to deaths announced for that day - not that the deaths all happened on the same day.
The public body also announced a further 778 people, who tested positive for the coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 15,607.
Patients were aged between 22 and 103 years old. 24 of the 778 patients (aged between 49 and 91 years old) had no known underlying health condition.
Their families have been informed.
