A WARRINGTON baker has staked her claim on Sandy Toksvig’s job as she prepares to leave Bake Off.

Jen Perry, from Room Forty afternoon tea company and mobile baking school, said: "I saw that Channel Four were looking for Sandy’s replacement to be able to ‘have experience of mopping up spills and the occasional tear, making tea and keeping the amateur bakers on time’, and thought: ‘That’s what I do at Room Forty!'"

The tongue-in-cheek statement added: "I’m available to fill in for Sandy between my own Room Forty bookings, plus at 5ft 1in tall, I’m about the same size."

Sandy Toksvig announced yesterday, Thursday, that she is leaving Great British Bake Off after a period of three years on the show co-presenting With Prue Leith, Paul Hollywood and Noel Fielding.

Jen Perry, who established the multi-award winning Room Forty in 2016, has taught nearly 450 people to bake bread at her classes that run across the region.

She added: "Where do I apply?"
