The next Weirdshire Night at the Babar Cafe in Hereford's Union Street features Nick Jonah Davis, a highly respected solo guitarist based in Derbyshire. He has released four albums of original solo instrumental guitar works on labels including Tompkins Square and Thread Recordings. His compositions blend American Primitive guitar stylings with traditional English folk song.

Nick has been described by fRoots magazine as one of the select band of living solo acoustic guitar players whose music is not only virtuosic, but genuinely exciting. "He adopts a glorious, deeply resonant sound, and spins out his finger-picked melodies into what become beautiful filigreed narrative pieces."

Support will come from local folk punk darlings Vaginapocalypse - performing their own original songs with close harmonies and caustic rapid fire lyrics. Two fingers to the mainstream and a warm hug from the rural underground they say… they will also be demonstrating their gentler side, with new songs and an expanded line up to include a brass section.

Nick Jonah Davis will be at the Babar Cafe on Thursday, November 7 at 7.30pm. Free entry with suggested £8 donation. For further details, call 01432 342334
