ROYAL British Legion members in Cleobury Mortimer have raised more than £1,000 at a harvest festival sale.
The Branch’s Annual Auction Sale of Harvest Produce took place at The Bell Inn, Lower Street in Cleobury Mortimer.
A good range of seasonal and other items was up for sale, and over £1,000 was raised, making the evening a great success.
The Cleobury Branch has also raised an impressive amount for the 2018/2019 Poppy Appeal.
Roger Gittins, the branch’s Poppy Appeal Organiser, reported that the year’s total will be over £9,500, making it the best year on record.
At the Branch Annual General Meeting, most of last year’s officers were re-elected:
Vanda Kemp tendered her resignation from the post of Secretary and a replacement to fill the role is being sought.
The Branch’s next social event will be a Fish and Chip Concert, with entertainment by the Shropshire Strummers Ukulele Band on Friday, November 1, for which tickets, at £10 each, are available from Ron Breakwell (01299 270830) or Mark Baldwin (01299 270110).
Remembrance Sunday is on November 10, followed by Remembrance Day itself on Monday. There will be a brief gathering around Cleobury’s war memorial at 11 a.m. on the Monday.
The Branch always welcomes new members.
