HAMPSHIRE police are on the hunt for two bronze statues after they were stolen from a house in the New Forest.

The statues were stolen from the owners garden and front porch in Rockbourne between 10.55am and 2.30pm while they were out.

Now police are appealing for information to find out where the statues are located, specifically to auction houses, pawn shops or anyone who deals in bronze.

Both statues are "very distinctive", according to a spokesperson from the police.

The first is a lifesize bronze statue of a running fox, approximately 107cm x 38cm signed ‘Polly Rome’ - the name of the sculptress.

The second is a bronze statue of a woman with her hands in the air, one metre tall, by the same artist.

The statue of the woman was taken from the garden, while the fox was taken from an unlocked porch.

A spokesperson from Hampshire police said: "We would like to remind anyone with similar garden art or high value outdoor furniture to ensure they are cemented or anchored to the ground to keep them safe.

"Anyone with information is asked to call 101 and quote 44190372123."

The statues were stolen on Thursday, October 17.
