A GROUP of musicians in south Shropshire has relaunched with a new name.

Shropshire Blues Club started as the South Shropshire Blues Club in 2013, but since its relaunch in February 2019, it has adopted the more global name of Shropshire Blues Club!

The Club was formed with the twin ideas of providing regular, high-quality live Blues and Blues-Rock entertainment to the population of Shropshire and also of raising money for local cancer charities.

In five years of existence it has raised several thousand pounds and hosted all manner of top-class bands and artists with the help of partners, Ludlow Brewing Company.

Performances are held at the Brewery.

These take place on a bi-monthly basis, well-advertised locally and enthusiastically supported: John Verity Band, Chris Jagger, Sultana Brothers, Paul Bridgwater Electric Blues Rebellion, have played recently - All supported by the House Band, Blue Moon.

The most recent show at Ludlow Brewery was on Saturday, August 31 and featured the Keith Thompson Band.

Another major goal is to have some fun while doing all of this! There is a charity raffle every month, quizzes, Guest Artistes, good background music, Ludlow Brewery’s famous beer, and much more.

The support of local businesses through sponsorship helps the Club achieve its goals whilst at the same time showcasing different bands for followers to enjoy.

“As we continue to move forward we are grateful for support from local Accountants, Dyke Ruscoe & Hayes and also for the support from Ludlow Brewery,” said Mal Salisbury from the Shropshire Blues Club.

Ludlow has become a town in which there are opportunities to hear live music.

The Brewery is a place where there are performances and regular concerts are performed throughout the year at St Laurence Church in the town centre and no just classical and church music
