THE residents of Great Western Court, a sheltered housing complex in Hereford belonging to Railway Housing Association, went all out to celebrate Railway Housing's centenary year.

A display of personal memorabilia showed items that were in use 100 years ago, along with letters and photos from loved ones - this included pictures and items from resident Marion Jones who celebrates her 100th birthday next month.

Great music was provided by Bandamonium from the Music Pool and a buffet from the bistro made sure the afternoon become a memorable social event for residents, volunteers and invited guests.

Many of the residents dressed up in a variety of costumes to commemorate the different fashions of the 1919 era and enjoyed having their photo taken.

Hilary Lewis the scheme manager said that the event and planning had been great fun. There was bunting made from pictures of 1919 fashions and a very special display of items that held memories to share with friends and neighbours and a great sense of fun throughout the afternoon.
