THE search for a new theatre manager at the Regal Tenbury Wells is on after Adey Ramsel said he will leave his role in July.

He joined the Regal in 2016 and since then, audience and box office figures have grown year-on-year and the Regal has expanded its programme of film, broadcast and live shows.

He's entertained audiences with pantomimes and musicals, including directing Cinderella last year.

Mr Ramsel has also played an important role in the growth of the Regal’s junior musical theatre and drama groups, and in inspiring the Regal’s group of committed volunteers.

He said: “One of the hardest factors in the decision process was people. Undoubtedly people are one of the highlights of working not only at The Regal but here in Tenbury.

“The Regal is one of the happiest theatres I have worked in and it has a welcoming, cosy atmosphere that comes from the volunteers, the community and the building itself.

“In everything we do we’re not like other theatres, we’re a one off and as I’ve always said, we punch far above our weight.”

He will take up the role of Theatre, Artistic & Events Manager at the newly refurbished Tamworth Assembly Rooms, a larger venue and closer to home.
