ON June 15 and 16 the Bockleton Women's Institute exhibited a floral display at Bockleton Church.

The display was a part of the Garden Flower Festival at the Church of St Michael and was a testament to the floral talents of members.

The WI has enjoyed a busy month. The unsettled weather made the June 19 garden visit difficult to organise but with true WI spirit members enjoyed the outdoors with a trip to the local garden of Mr and Mrs Trussell. The evening was dry, sunny if a little cool and members enjoyed the meeting and supper sat in the herb garden overlooking the far reaching views.

Later there was a tour of the gardens and the menagerie on site. A very enjoyable evening was had by all and members received a parting gift of a plant.

The July 16 meeting will be a visit to Bontera Farm, Holt Heath. Bontera is a lavender farm and members will be making lavender wreaths and enjoying a cream tea afterwards.

The August 21 meeting will be at the parish hall when Chris will be demonstrating how to make a hand-tied flower arrangement, members are invited to bring with them flowers from then own gardens and have a go themselves.

Early in September the group will be having an extra visit to watch the hops being picked at the farm of Mr Raymond Morris at Burford, this will be a last minute event as it dependent upon whether the hops are ready to harvest on the day.

Then on the evening of the September 18 meeting Mr Morris will be talking about hop farming through the years.
