OVER the past 15 years the community-run Richards Castle Soap Box Derby has raised a staggering £114,000 which has been distributed to over 50 local charities and organisations.

This year's Soap Box runs on Sunday, June 30 from 10am to 4pm.

The event is raising funds for Ludlow Hospital League of Friends, Orelton CE Primary School and Bishop Hooper CE Primary School.

Chairman, Humphrey Salway comments "The day sees huge crowds flock to see the thrills and spill of soap box racing, with carts of all shapes and sizes taking part.

"We'd love this year's event to be as successful as last year, so please join us on June 30."

The most amazing views from Hanway Common, above Richards Castle, set the scene for a day of fun as soap box carts race down the hill in search of the fastest time or simply for enjoyment.

Lunchtime entertainment includes the super-sharp Welsh Axemen, the hugely entertaining lawnmower racing, parades from a range of car clubs and the Tenbury Brass Band.

There's catering onsite including bar with a bouncy castle for the kids along with plenty of parking on the site.
