THE County Air Ambulance is warning fundraisers to be aware of fraudsters who are using the charity's name in order to deceive the public.
Several recent cases have come to light involving local fundraisers who have been the target of elaborate scams. In one case, a fundraiser was asked for sensitive information about individuals sponsoring an event. In another incident, bank details were requested from a fundraiser in return for help in publicising an Air Ambulance function.
Paul Weir, fundraising development manager for County Air Ambulance, said: "We live in a world where unscrupulous individuals and criminal organisations target charities with elaborate scams, resulting in the loss of hundreds of pounds meant for good causes".
Fundraisers with any suspicions can contact the official County Air Ambulance charity on 01384 241133.
