ON Friday, May 3 Ludlow Cancer Support Group is holding a prize bingo night in the Parish Room of St Peter's Church in Ludlow.

Starting at 7.30pm, the evening is being organised in aid of the O'Connor Haematology Unit, on the first floor of the state-of-the-art Lingen Davies Cancer Centre at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

The unit was named after consultant haematologist Dr Nigel O'Connor, who was pivotal to the creation of the Lingen Davies Centre, spearheading a fundraising campaign which raised over £1 million.

Today, the haematology unit comprises the O'Connor Suite for outpatients and Ward 23 for inpatients. A dedicated flat is also available at no charge for relatives of patients in the terminal stages of their illness.

Ludlow Cancer Support Group will donate all monies from the prize bingo night and raffle to the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust Charity (SaTH Charity), with a request that it be allocated to the O'Connor Haematology Unit.

Doors open at 6.30pm, with 'eyes down' at 7.30pm. For only £5.50, you can enjoy an evening of fun, to include six books of 10 games each, a raffle and refreshments.

Bring family and friends; pay on the door, or email or phone Rosemary Wood to reserve your tickets - email: rosemary.wood3@gmail.com or call 01584 875438. Raffle prizes welcome.
