A CHARITY dedicated to supporting people with learning difficulties is trialling a new food delivery service in the Ludlow area.

Working Together is a Ludlow based charity that supports adults with learning difficulties, and their families, providing support, training, work opportunities and recreational activities within in the local community.

“Members of Working Together are keen to demonstrate their cooking and baking skills and are now arranging for their sumptuous soups, warming curries and satisfying stews to be delivered to order,’’ said Nichola North, the voluntary chief executive officer of Working Together.

‘’A chance meeting with Sarah and Suzanne from the Bromfield based specialist bike maker Islabikes led to the launch of the new venture which sees the team taking regular orders of hot food and a choice of cakes to the World Famous Islabikes Factory.

“We hope that there will be more opportunities to produce food to order, either for people at work or anyone wanting a batch of homemade scones or individual cakes for home or a special occasion. We are grateful to Islabikes for being our first delivery customer and we hope there will be interest from many more.’’

Working Together, which operates a Café in Ludlow, is moving in the summer to a new base at the Rockspring Community Centre as the Café no longer meets the needs of the growing number of people with learning disabilities who would like to take part in the meaningful work-based activities offered by the charity.

“It is a very exciting time for the charity, growing and building on our reputation for good quality food, made by our members and we are looking for new ways of attracting customers,” said Roma Jackson, the chair of the trustees.

All of the cakes, bread, scones, curries, stews and soups that Learning Together produce are made by Working Together’s learning disabled members with support from a team of staff and volunteers.

The charity alos provides opportunities for people to gain work experience by engaging with those that have learning difficulties and need extra help.

Learning difficulties covers a broad spectrum of issues that include conditions such as autism that itself cover a wide range of different challenges.

It aimes to make sure that people with such challenges make the best of their lives
