If 'middle class rap' is your peculiar bag and you don't mind being stared at in a rather odd way, then why not catch up with The Very Grimm Brothers in Malvern?

Otherwise, perhaps it's best to leave the county for a while.

A spokesman warned: "The only thing that cheers them up is you. Welcome to their enchanted forest and encounters with direct action, awkward departures, the poetry of platforms, birthdays, marmalade, undimmed love and the spinning of gold from straw."

The Very Grimm Brothers, also known as Adrian Mealing and John Denton, certainly have their high-level admirers.

Benjamin Zephaniah once told them: "You move real nice".

Which is strong praise indeed.

But who on earth are these Grimm gentlemen?

A spokesman said: " Adrian is a Malvern Poetry Slam Champ. He also sings à cappella with Men In General, A Fistful of Spookies and The Spooky Men’s Chorale (Aus).

"John wears several musical hats including his John Denton’s Midnight Band hat."

He's very good at wearing hats, in fact.

The spokesman added: “It’s a very chatty, tangential gig. And Grimm John just bought a Martin D28 Re-imagined acoustic guitar. "

An envious Grimm Adrian said: "I don’t know where he finds the money.”

The Grimms will be appearing with SassCappella, a three piece à cappella band.

The line up includes Gwen Woodfield, Marie-Therese King and Janet Neate "who love singing!"

The spokesman said: "Their set includes Chattanooga Choo Choo right through to a few of their own original pieces about life".

Gwen said: “We have been singing and laughing together for three years now and have a combined height of 21’ 4” and combined age of 84, in our dreams!”

The date for the diary is Saturday, March 30, from 7.30pm, in Elmslie House.
