NORBURY and District WI met on February 14 and the evening had a suitably romantic theme for St Valentine's Day.

Rosie Cantrill from Organik Orangutan brought her hand made skin care products for members to try.

She described how she began her business by acquiring angora goats to befriend her aged horse. She sheared the goats twice a year and crocheted their soft curly hair into jewellery and felting.

Rosie then described her soap making and said the chemicals and palm oil in commercially produced soaps leads to the devastation of tropical forests. Rosie's soap does not have palm oil but uses six other oils and no water. She then whipped together shea butter, olive oil and coconut oil to make a lovely face cream. She was warmly thanked by Krystyna Lawson.

After giving us some soap samples to try at home Rosie judged the competition for 'a skin care beauty tip, won by Wendy Oakley; 2nd Rita Preston and 3rd Jane Pugh.

The evening was rounded off with a Valentine themed supper provided by Jane Pugh, Jayne Godsman and Sue Pinches.

The next Norbury WI meeting is on tomorrow at 7.30pm in Norbury Village Hall when the speaker is Ellie Tarratt from Pretender to the Throne in Bishop's Castle. Visitors and new members are always welcome.
