As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting young talent, developing new audiences and bringing the best of music to Herefordshire, Hellensmusic is creating an annual series of events at Hellens.

On Sunday, February 10 will present a piano recital in The Great Barn at Hellens, with free admission for all students in full time education.

The programme comprises Beethoven's Sonata No 8 in C min Op.13 (Pathétique); Schumann: Nine pieces from Bunte Blätter Op.99 and Debussy's L'Isle Joyeuse in the first half. Following the interval will be Judith Weir: The Art of Touching the Keyboard; Bunte Blätter Op.99; Janáček On An Overgrown Path (selection) and Chopin's Ballade No 1 in G Minir, Op.23.

This concert forms part of a weekend of music and education promoted in collaboration with John Masefield School. On Friday, February 8 at 7pm students from John Masefield School perform in a free concert also featuring William Howard, described in The Independent as “a pianist of quite special lustrousness and versatility”. On Saturday, February 9, William Howard leads an informal piano workshop - an opportunity for pianists of school age and above, who have a piece prepared to performance/exam standard, to perform on a superb Steinway concert grand, and receive advice on performance, interpretation and technique.
