THE team at the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre have opportunities for volunteering in a variety of activities around their site.

The centre is run by independent local charity, Grow Cook Learn, who will be celebrating five years at the centre this April.

As well as the option to work outside in the Onny Meadows, the busy teams in the shop and café are also looking for volunteers. There are two groups that work in the Meadows: the Habitat Helpers meet on the first Sunday of every month and this Sunday will be making Bug Hotels; the Onny Meadows Group meet every Friday and this week will be working on fencing and painting.

For work inside the centre, the busy café and shop teams are looking for volunteers that can assist with varied tasks to include serving customers and helping with stock levels and pricing. There is also the opportunity to get involved with computer and administrative tasks as well as general office duties.

Centre manager, Grant Wilson says, "We are always looking for new volunteers to join our fun and friendly team. Our Habitat Helpers group are meeting this Sunday and we will be doing bug hotel building. It's suitable for all ages so perfect for the whole family to get involved with and you can take some tips home for your bug hotels in your own gardens."
