Arts Alive loves to work with both established performers and those on their way up. Newcastle duo Will Finn and Rosie Calvert charmed local promoters in March this year, when they showcased their contemporary take on folk music and their relaxed and friendly stage presence.
In the Beneath This Place tour, Will and Rosie present their debut album of the same name. Playing traditional music with a contemporary flare, their shows are a veritable smorgasbord of folk fusion, utilising piano, steel pan, ukulele, and close-knit harmony singing to tremendous effect. The unusual and sensitive use of percussion in the folk idiom is especially appealing, as is their enthusiasm and delight in sharing their music.
Suitable for all but the very youngest, don’t miss the chance to preview Beneath this Place and to catch Will and Rosie before they hit the big time. Expect superb musicianship and warm and witty banter from this lively young duo, who play at Bitterley Village Hall on Friday, November 9 at 7.30pm.
