CLEE Hill and District Royal British Legion launch their Poppy Appeal on Saturday with a prize bingo at Knowbury Memorial Hall, eyes down at 8pm!

All proceeds will be for the Poppy Appeal.

Branch secretary Fay Vass said "We have once again had some fantastic prizes donated. We have had a change of venue this year, and we are hoping to smash the previous fundraising record for the evening!"

This year marks the 100 year anniversary of the end of the First World War and the branch has a weekend of special commemorative events planned for November 10-11, including a grand parade through Clee Hill Village on November 10 with marching band, standards and fancy dress (leaving Vic Car Park at 3pm) and a Festival of Remembrance at 6pm on November 11 at St Peters Church, Clee Hill.

All are welcome to any event.

Fay continues "It's so important that 100 years on we still remember the sacrifices made for us by those brave men, many of whom went to war and never came home. They were all sons, maybe brothers, uncles, or fathers - we must ensure that those lost lives and the horror of war is never forgotten."
