BRIGHTWELLS reports a very successful Hardy Ram sale at Rhayader Market on October 18.
The Catalogue entry of 522 met a buoyant trade from the start to achieve an 87% clearance. In the pre-sale show the Hardy Speckled Class showed a tremendous turnout for the judge Huw Davies, Brynieuau who awarded the prizes as follows;
First Prize to a 4yr old ram from WR Protheroe & Son, Cwmdulas.
Second Prize to a 4yr old ram from AL Davies & Sons, Park.
Third Prize to 4yr old ram from WR Protheroe & Son, Cwmdulas.
In the White Faced Class the judge Terry Bound, Tynymaes awarded the prizes as follows;
First Prize to a Yearling Ram from DB & MM Fairclough, Wernhir.
Second Prize to a Yearling Ram from SF Jones, Malgwyn.
Third Prize to 3yr old ram from A & M Jones, Rhysgog.
The top price was 1250gns for a Welsh Yearling Ram from ET Bound & Co, Tyn-y-maes selling to C Thomas, Beiliddol.
The Top Price Hardy Speckled was the First Prize ram from WR Protheroe & Son, Cwmdulas selling for 1120gns to the Judge Huw Davies, Brynieuau.

1200gns - JM & AM Lewis, Pentwyn selling a yearling to SF Jones, Malgwyn.
1150gns - SF Jones, Malgwyn selling a yearling to SP Davies, Jays Barn.
1100gns - SF Jones, Malgwyn selling his 2nd Prize yearling to CG Davies & Son, Tynpwll.
1100gns - SF Jones, Malgwyn selling a yearling to RB Pugh, Maes y Gelli.
1050gns - IL Morgan, Upper Rhymney selling a yearling to RJ Jones & Co, Tymawr.
1000gns – RK Davies, Cefnserwydd selling a four year old to DG Lewis, Geufron.
