EVERY year since the Orleton and District Gardening Club was formed in 1980 an Annual Show has been held, allowing members to showcase their produce and expertise.

This year on Saturday, August 18 the club will celebrate their 38th show and hope to make it the best yet.

Orleton Village Hall on show day is always packed full of vegetables, cut flowers, pot plants, preserves, baking, crafts, cordials, and the wonderful displays created by the Floral Art Section.

Members compete for a number of silver trophies, but there are also two Open Sections which non club members may enter.

The club is a friendly gardening club of around 100 members usually meeting on the last Tuesday of each month in Orleton Village Hall.

Members range from absolute beginners to experienced gardeners, and from tiny patio gardens to more extensive plots and allotments.

As well as having knowledgeable and entertaining speakers each month, members also learn from each other by swapping tips and information and buying plants from a monthly plant stall.

Incorporated into the annual programme are trips to gardens or plant nurseries and two enjoyable meals together. So whether you have an interest in flowers, vegetables, wildlife, or organic gardening etc. there is sure to be a lot to interest you.

On show day entry is free and visitors can enjoy all the displays, indulge in afternoon tea, and at 3pm produce is auctioned off followed by the raffle and then the prize giving.

Members look forward to meeting you from 1.30pm and entry is free. And if you are interested in joining the club full membership details can be found on the website orletongardeningclub.co.uk
