AS part of the LUDLOW Fringe Festival, local group People 4 Ludlow is hosting its second Great Get Together planned for Saturday in Castle Square with the simple invite of ‘bring your own food and a little extra to share.’

“Following the success of last year’s event, the Great Get Together is becoming a regular feature of the fabulous LUDLOW Fringe event and we feel that it’s really important that the community continues to express its solidarity against intolerance and division,” said Kim Holtoyd of People 4 Ludlow.

“All we are asking people to do is to bring along enough food to share so that others, perhaps unaware of the event, and visitors to Ludlow, can spontaneously join in and share in the strong community bonds in Ludlow.

All facilities are provided, including soft drinks, and if the weather is bad we will celebrate in the Women’s Centre”.

The Ludlow Women’s Centre is also involved in the party.

“We want the town to come together and not be separated by class, political views or wealth and we are looking forward to a great day with crafts and entertainment provided for all the family to enjoy,” said Frances Lloyd, of the Women’s Centre.

But help is needed to make the day go with a swing.

“We do, however, need assistance on the day – community action is not a spectator sport and we ask that if anyone feels that they can help a little to contact People4Ludlow by emailing,” she added.

The People’s Alliance for Ludlow (P4L) is committed to developing a sustainable and resilient Ludlow over the next 20 years.

It was founded following a meeting at Ludlow Brewery

“With increasing public concern over the decreasing financial support from central government and the direction of travel of Shropshire Council, leading to the deterioration, and even loss, of critical local services there is a call by the community for greater cross-community expression, collaboration, representation and action through a cohesive approach to local issues, challenges and positive initiatives,” said David Burton of the People’s Alliance for Ludlow.
