A NEW season begins at Bishop's Castle Tennis Club in April and what better way to celebrate it than a four day tennis tour to Sweden.

Five female members of the club have been invited to play international tennis in Upsala in Sweden. Each day will be a mix of tennis and cultural experiences and the group will stay with members of a Swedish Tennis Club. Sue Cooper, who instigated the trip said, "I had a visit from a friend from Upsala last summer and whilst in Bishop's Castle she played some tennis and really enjoyed the convivial company and idyllic surroundings of the Bishop's Castle Club. She suggested that we might take a group to Sweden this spring and then have a return visit to Bishop's Castle later in the year."

The visit is perfectly timed as, over the last few weeks weather conditions have made it necessary to be well wrapped up when playing on the courts in Bishop's Castle. The Swedish Club however plays indoors and the group is looking forward to returning from their tour to play on warm Spring days and evenings, possibly followed by a drink in the nearby pub beer garden.

The Bishop's Castle Tennis Club welcomes new members and encourages both seasoned players and those new to the sport by offering opportunities for coaching at various levels. Anyone interested to know more should contact Anne-Marie Jackson on 01588 638566, or at jackson.annemarie@btinternet.com
