A LARGE number of people living in Tenbury want bigger waste bins following a change that will mean collections are less frequent.

This was reported to Tenbury Town Council by Tony Penn.

Letters concerning the changes were sent to all households in January.

They stated whether the properties were considered suitable for individual black bins, communal bins or remaining on sacks.

“These have generated a considerable number of enquiries. Most are households requiring larger bins,” said Tony Penn who represents the Town on Malvern Hills District Council.

“To date, 650 requests have been accepted and these were received before the deadline, at the end of January.

“Homes who missed this date and who meet the criteria will have the opportunity to request a larger bin after April 2.

An information pack will be delivered with each bin covering recycling and waste minimisation guidance.

“This will be posted where the household is remaining on a sack collection,” added Tony Penn.

“It is recognised that some properties are not suitable for bins due to space or access issues.”
