THREE new swimming instructors are ready to work and volunteer at SpArC in Bishop's Castle having completed their ASA level 1 Swimming Assistant qualification.

Funded by the SpArC charity, this qualification increases the much-needed number of swimming qualified staff at SpArC and provides for additional swimming capacity.

Jean Shirley, chairman of Sparc Trustees says: "We are committed to offering sports training qualifications to local people, which not only improves their skills and knowledge but also builds additional capacity at SpArC. One of the key roles of our charity is to raise the skill levels and employment prospects of the local workforce and volunteers, and we feel that this makes a positive start.

The next fundraising event in aid of the Save the SpArC campaign is a series of tile painting workshops on February 10, 24 and 25 during Bishop's Castle Arts week and then finally on March 10 and 17. The tiles will be used to decorate the on-site pool changing rooms which are scheduled for refurbishment from February 19 to March 9. The pool will be closed for these three weeks.
