Hereford String Orchestra will give its Summer Symphony concert on Saturday, June 24 in Leominster Priory.
The programme will feature 19th century romantic music by Mendelssohn and Brahms, with the latter's Piano Concerto No 2 the highlight of the concert, played by well-known pianist Liang Shan.
The introductory first half of the evening will consist of Mendelssohn's overtures, Ruy Blas and the Hebrides, and extracts from his music for A Midsummer Night's Dream. Led by Christine Lenton, the orchestra's regular leader, and conducted by Roland Melia with a guest condcutor Tom Fetherstonhaught, the orchestra will be at full strength with otheir regular wind, brass and percussion joining the strings.
