KNOWBURY WI tribute to Her Majesty The Queen.
On June 9, Knowbury WI members dug out their red white and blue, bought the bubbly and baked the cake to pay tribute to her Majesty the Queen on her 90th birthday.
Vice president, Elaine Oxborrow conducted the business meeting which included an update on the charity fund raising for the West Mercia Women's Aid Group, the Committee Dinner and the Denman Collage Appeal. Members were reminded that their entries for the bra hanging basket competition must be submitted at the July meeting.
Jenny Bounds asked if Sylvia Barrett, our WI Adviser, and the committee could look into the reasons a group of enthusiastic under graduates at Chester University, including one young woman from our village, had been refused permission to start up a young WI, giving the facts that they had positive feedback and had arranged free premises at the college.
The speaker Penny Platts, illustrated her excellent talk entitled Amsterdam to Budapest by river boat, with delightful photographs taken by her husband and accompanied some shots with music and the sounds of their experiences. She was thanked by Margaret White.
