PHILIP Dunne, MP for the Ludlow Constituency, is encouraging local entries to the Countryside Alliance Awards, also known as the Rural Oscars.
The annual Countryside Alliance Awards, which honour four categories of rural life; local food, village shop or post office, rural tourism (new for 2015) or butcher have been launched.
“I am delighted once again to promote the Countryside Alliance Awards in the Ludlow Constituency,” said Philip Dunne.
“Last year, we achieved a regional finalist through the Smithy Shop in Wistanstow, and I hope we can repeat that success or go even further this year.
"The awards are led through public nominations, so it is vital local people support their favourite local businesses for South Shropshire to be recognised.”
Finalists will be chosen and a maximum of five businesses will be shortlisted in each category. These business will then be visited and judged, and will be invited to the Parliamentary finals in April 2016 to hear if they are champion of their category.
Public nominations can be made until November 2015 by visiting www.countryside-alliance.org.uk.
