ANOTHER missing piece in Ludlow’s ‘heart start’ jigsaw is in place.

A defibrillator has been installed at the Ludlow Conference Centre meaning that another part of the town now has ready access to technology that can save lives.

The objective of the ‘Ludlow Defib 4 You’ group is to make that there is a machine that is accessible within a few minutes from anywhere in the town.

With the latest installation Ludlow now has defibrillators at The Assembly Rooms, Homecare, the Rockspring Centre and now at The Conference Centre.

The heart start machines can be used with basic training to give an electric shock to a heart that has stopped beating in order to get it going again until professional help arrives.

It is vitally important that anyone who suffers a heart attack gets help as soon as possible because experts say that for every minute that is lost the chance of survival is reduced by 23%.

A pool of nearly 40 volunteers has been trained by the West Midlands Ambulance Service to use the defibrillators.
